Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can we feed/pet the goats?
A: While many of our goats are friendly, they are still live animals and they are working when they are at your home. We recommend not petting or feeding any of the animals unless a staff member is with you.
-
How many goats will you bring for goatscaping?
A: The number of goats may vary depending on the size of the project, how our goats are fitting in with each other, and how comfortable we are with them on the job site. We often have baby goats that we will keep on the farm unless we feel they are ready to go. However, you can expect usually between 5-15 goats and 7-10 sheep on most of our projects. We will sometimes also bring Ripley, our livestock guardian dog.
-
How many goats will you bring for yoga and birthday parties?
A: We will bring up to all of the baby goats if you want them. We currently have 7 baby goats under 3 monhts old.
-
How long will it take to complete my project?
A: This varies based on the size of the area and how dense the brush has become. It can typically take 10-15 days to clear 1 acre. Our agreements typically include the number of days and hours of manual labor. If we have room in our schedule we will often leave the goats a few extra days if they are still eating.
-
What geographic areas do you cover?
A: We are located in Chesapeake, VA. We cover anywhere within about an hour. This includes Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Moyock, Elizabeth City, Hampton, Newport News, and other surrounding cities.
-
How do the goats stay in the area we want goatscaped?
A: Almost always we use electric fencing to keep the goats in. We do have several signs around the fence to warn people that its electric. We can also offer an orange safety fence for extra protection for an extra fee if requested.
-
Do you use electric fencing for birthday parties and goat yoga?
A: No. We have non-electric panels for our baby goats. We also have a staff member with the goats for these events.
